I think I understand now

that people will always debate over music. Honestly, whenever you’re really excited about a song or an artist there will always be someone there to make sure they throw their two cents in about how much “that artist sucks” or “their music is stupid” or “their mainstream now, they suck”. I have a very bipolar/random taste in music. It would literally take me a hours to list all the genres I expose myself to. This is mostly because I have playing musical instruments since birth and was able to be exposed to many different genres at a young age. I’m not going to go on referring to myself as “a music guru” or say things like “I listen to it all, except country” because I do listen to country. However, I don’t listen to it all. There are many genres that I probably will never be able to take an interest in because I can’t relate to the artists in that genre. I think this is what people seem to forget about music. Music has to be relatable to the listener. If someone can’t relate to the lyrics of a mainstream hip-hop artist, most of the time they are into underground or indie hip-hop. However, that doesn’t give them the right to degrade everyone who listens to mainstream hip-hop. The same thing can be said about mainstream rock, alternative, folk, R&B, country, pop, etc. Taste in music is not something can be judged nor is some musical genre better than another musical genre. If someone feels so annoyed by other people’s music choices, why not expose them to new music instead of constantly arguing with them because of their music choices.

I hate ranting on, but I said I would blog every few days about things on my mind.
